The cat has to eat an incredible amount just to get enough nutrition to thrive. Get a high quality food like Wellness, or Avoderm or Mother Hubbard, or Merric or Ennovo and see if you cat won't eat a lot better. In the mean time feed the cat chicken and rice and veggies. I dunno how long it's been since you changed foods but normally your cat will get accustomed to the taste of the new food and start eating it. In this case, if it was eating the kit and kaboodle immediately and not eating the 9lives anymore, your cat must've liked the k&k better. You can let him get reaccustomed to 9lives or change to the one he/she prefers. Whenever I change foods for my cat he hates it at first.
