I’ll be taking care of my neighbor’s male cat who was neutered yesterday. She told me her vet said he had to stay inside for seven days. This doesn’t sound right to me. The cat loves to be outside. Is it best for him to stay inside?
yes, he should stay inside because he won’t feel well for a while. he also should have a super clean litterbox. every time he potties his box should be scooped out.
Definitely keep him inside. He still has a wound, and he’s weak. You never know if there’s another male cat out there & IF SO, he will fight with him! It’s perfectly fine to keep him inside for a week
I would say listen to the vet, he/she is a professional and should be treated as such, and also i can understand why, it might get dirt in the area of neuter lets say…..
Cats shouldn’t go outside anyway. They can get hit by cars, abused by sick people, eat weird stuff, contract disease….
Anyway, to answer your question: when a cat is neutered, the testicle sack is cut open and the testicles are removed. They are not stitched back up. Rather, when you squeeze the skin back together it kind of sews itself back up. However, it will take time to heal over enough to where the skin will stay together permenantly. If you let the cat outside he may play rough and the skin could split open. Keep him inside.
Yes. Keep him inside the house. There’s a reason why the vet told your friend that. Anyway, he still has a wound so moving too much might not be a good idea. But just make sure that he’s not too bored inside.

It’s safest for the cat to stay inside anyway. And he should stay quiet for a while after the operation while he heals.
If you have a screened in porch or sun room, you could compromise and let the kitty sit out there.
Good luck.

yes, if he gets out he is much morelikely to jump/leap or fight which could tear out his stitches.
Keeping him inside is intended to keep him from moving too much or too fast so that his stitches can heal.
