How to take care of a stray cat?

Need help taking care of stray cat and please I need some tips very badly. Thank you. Kira K.

    feed and water her, until you can catch her. then take her to a vet for a check up, and if possible, a spay or neuter.

    talk to a vet, tell them what is wrong with the cat and they will give you certain medication to put in the cats food or give to the cat

    Put some food and water out. It also depends on what you plan on doing with it. If you want to keep it, then you should trap it, and take it to the vet. And if you have other cats already, dont let it around them until you have it combo tested for feline aids and leukemia, because your other cats could get it. If it is positive for either, then you might want to think about euthanizing it. But hopefully its all negative. And you should definitely get it spayed/neutered. At the clinic I work at, if someone finds a stray and traps it, we will sedate it will in the cage, combo test it, and then spay/neuter it all in one day, then its done. Also, vaccines, of course. :)

    Just beware if you call animal control they will catch it and take it to the human society where it will likely be euthanized since there’s such a massive overpopulation of cats. my advice: start feeding it, observe it’s behavior for a few days, make sure it doesn’t act weird or sick. if you can lure it into a cage, get it neutered if possible. A humane society will do that cheapest, or sometimes there is a ‘free clinic’ in your area for very low income people. You can get a flea collar for a few bucks if you don’t want to go with expensive Advantage/Frontline/Revolution. Cats love living outside if that is the only way you can keep him.

    strays are really easy to take care of, just buy a bag of cat food, make sure it has plenty of fresh waster, and give it bed a bed to sleep on you can just use an old towel or blanket. and get her spayed!!! trust me cats cat breed fast, they have litter after litter and then you’ll have stray male cats spraying all over your house. trust me getting her spayed will be so worth it in the end, and even if its a boy get him neutered because he’ll spray all over the place and your whole yard will stink of cat pee..

    BE PATIENT. You are going to have to earn trust before anything. Start by just putting out food/water…on a regular basis. See if you can identify the normal feeding time. After a week or so, try to sit out by the food (but a good distance away…a few car lengths or so). Get the cat accustomed to your presence before trying to pet or talk to her…each day move a little closer to the food. Eventually, talk to her in a soft voice and hold out your hand…don’t expect an immediate reaction. When you finally get a response, don’t pick her up. pet first, see how that goes. Before picking up completely off the ground, just lift front half…baby steps.

    If you are planning on bringing the cat inside, once you get a hold of it take it to the vet.

    If you already have cats, make 100% sure to wash your hands after handling the cat before any contact w/your animals. And DO NOT shared food dishes. Many cat diseases are transmittable via saliva. Of course, you would have the cat tested for all of these when you go…
