How to choose your perfect Persian kitten

A Persian Kitten can be a wonderful addition to a family.  Taking care of and loving a kitten will teach any child a measure of self-responsibility and also teach them how to care for someone other than themselves.

It is believed that the Persian cat is one of the oldest breeds of cat.  Most people believe that all other long haired cat originated from the Persian cat.  When considering buying Persian Kittens, you need to know the different kinds of Persian cats.

You can find different colored Persian cats.  Most Persians are bi-colored – this means that their coat consists of two main colors.  Popular bicolor Persians are red bicolor Persian, cream bicolor Persian or brown bicolor Persian.  With most bicolor Persian cats, the color describing the cat – red bicolor Persian – means that the coat is a shade of red and one other color, usually white.  There are exceptions where white is not part of their coat.

There are various people and businesses that make a living out of breeding Persian cats.  Someone who breeds with Persians is called a Persian Cat Breeder.  Some Persian Cat Breeders keep the cats in individual cages, except when mating, and these cats never socialize, thus becoming wild cats.  To breed any kind of animal you need to have a license and Persian Cat Breeders are no different.  If you do not possess a license to breed with Persian cats then your local Government and police have the right to remove the cat(s) and/or reallocate your cats to a new home and owners.  Most commercial breeders sell their kittens to a wholesaler or pet shop, not to individuals who are looking for a loving kitten.

When buying a kitten from a pet shop, you may never know where that little one came from or in which circumstances it was bred.  If it was sold to the pet shop by a licensed breeder then you might receive a registration certificate when buying the kitten.

Kittens bred and raised by a Persian Cat Breeder might not be your ideal house cat but as you may never know where the cat came from you will need to show them as much love and care as possible.  As with any human being, kittens need love and nourishment to thrive.  Do your best to give the  Kitten Care, love and any other necessities to ensure a happy, nutritious life for the kitten.

Persian cats have long hair on their coat which needs to be brushed daily to avoid matting.  If the cat’s hair does mat, do not pull on it but rather try to break it apart gently – otherwise you may pull out the hair to their roots and leave a bald patch.  It is also recommended that you wipe their eyes with a warm wash cloth.

Persian cats are fun loving and affectionate.  They make an ideal friend for anyone – even the most hard-hearted.  Snuggle up in front of the television and your kitten will join you, just wanting the closeness provided by cuddling up to you.
