How do I care for a cut on my cat?

We just brought our cat in from outside. We’ve always had him so he’s not a stray. We just noticed him itching behind his ear a lot so I thought we should check for fleas. Instead we found an inch long bloody area behind his ear. How should I care for it? It seems to be bothering him a lot.

You need to take him to the vet! It could be infected already, but put Neosporin on it for now. Hope that helps!

Take it to the vet especially if it is a gouge(it could get infected). If it’s a scratch clean it with hydrogen peroxide and some antibiotic cream or ointment. Make sure you cat is vaccinated. You could always CALL YOUR VET to make sure.
Better to be safe than sorry

clean the cats ear with water and soap or something that kills germs. Then take the cat to the vet.

I’m guessing that your cat is probably digging in that area because he has ear mites that are making him super itchy. If so, the scabby area won’t heal till you get rid of the mites.
A trip to the vet is in order.
You can clean the area in the meantime with a clean, wet cloth. Since it’s in an area your cat can’t lick, you can also put a dab of antibiotic ointment on it.

well if u live in the uk rabies isnt here so just dab it with some cream and clear it up and stick a little plaster(make sure its the allergic free type) If u are american
I dought it would have been a cat fight since u havent said it had multiple marks and sores so i think he may have just caught it on a branch or in the garden so again probly not rabies
