Food and Litter will be your big costs for the month. But there are other things involved. Toys for your cat – they need stimulation. And also you have to be prepared to pay for any medical issues that may arise. They need to see a vet yearly at the very least and it’s really a good idea to get them fixed. They are wonderful companions and worth every penny!
Whatever you do get Wellness brand or better cat food (from Pet valu etc.) The more expensive the better. (Iams, Science Diet, Whiskas – stay away from). You would need Litter money which may need to be changed weekly depending on how many kitties u have. Make sure they are spayed and neutered. Yearly shots at the vet (check up). When they are older 12 years + they will have tons of medical conditions so be prepared to pay hundreds for them to be cured! It’s like having a real baby but the only difference is that they don’t ever speak =) so u have to read them if ever they feel sick…sometimes humans misunderstand and can be a little hard on them not knowing that the pet is actually crying out to be helped. Good luck!
About 50$ a month. Why do you think so many poor people have cats, and sometimes so many? They don’t really have to do anything to care for them. Although occasionally they may get sick and that could run you up as much as 150$ to 200$ on average for basic medical problems. Our cat has only had one vet visit for worms that cost us 110$, we’ve had her for 3 years. Just buy whatever food is on sale and cheap cat litter, occasional canned food as a treat. Filtered doesn’t cost much these days. All you need, the rest are fun things and cats usually entertain themselves.
As long as it has all its shots and stuff and doesn’t get hurt, then yea, all it takes is food and litter. They are very self sufficient animals so they require little care.
you will need to invest in vet check ups, collar and a name tag. I spend around $30.00-50.00 a month annually………If you get the value packs of dry and wet food along with litter it shouldn’t be all that much. You also have to remember your kitty needs toys, time with you, and attention. I have a cat and those are basically the necessities your cat will not like scented litter. Also she/he will need outdoor time as well as play time. Cats are very energetic. Another investment is if she will be 100% indoor get your kitty clawed if not already the cat WILL destroy furniture, screens, curtains, etc………. I would recommend adopting a cat from an animal shelter. They usually are already spayed/neutered and come with standard shots.
